2020 Awardees

All of our volunteers and dogs are valued and they give a fantastic service to their local communities day in and day out but as is tradition at Crufts, we make some special awards to those volunteers who make an exceptional contribution to the Charity.

2020 Winners

Our top award, the Pam St. Clements trophy is awarded to a volunteer as recognition for going above and beyond their regular activities.  This year we we thrilled to be able to give this to Emma Piotowski and her family, Nico the Therapy Dog and Kenzie, Lexi and Harvy who are all TDN Cadets.

Emma and Nico from south Wales are regular visitors to Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital where they bring smiles, love and distractions from everyday life.  Recently Emma was called at short notice to to attend the Hospital to help make a video memory book for a child who was under going end of life care and the parents wanted Nico to be part of that memory.

Elsewhere, Kenzie, Lexi and Harvey regularly promote the Charity at fund raising events and school assembly and more notably at the Welsh Senedd.  They are all very active members of the Cadet team and we are pleased that the award could be given to the whole family.

TDN Cadets at Crufts 2020

The TDN Cadets were out in force at Crufts 2020, promoting the charity and fund raising across the 4 days.

TDN Cadets

We were thrilled so many could join us and, without exception, their knowledge and enthusiasm shone through.  The Cadet scheme is open to juniors aged between 7 and 17 to enable them to accompany family members on their visits.  The Cadets work towards by logging their achievements, this could be fund raising, community talks and education sessions.  9 Cadets gained their Bronze award at Crufts this year and some are already on their way to gaining their Silver.  Well done guys!  Our awardees are: Lexi, Alfie, Faye, Kenzie, Ewan, Jordan, Harvey, Katie and Taylor.

Our Cadet scheme is run by Claire Stephens(BSc Hons BVetMed MRCVS) who herself was a former junior member of Pets As Therapy.  Claire said “it was great to see so many of the Cadets positively promoting TDN and chatting to the public.  The Cadets are the future of our charity and I am very proud of them all.”

We had a tombola (dog themed of course) which was run exclusively by the Cadets, over the weekend they raised nearly £500.

Currently we have 21 Cadets registered with us.  For more information, please visit the Cadet page.

Important update for volunteers & establishments regarding COVID-19.

Dear All

Today we have decided to suspend ALL activities until further notice while we all keep safe. This includes but is not limited to, regular visiting, one offs and assessments.

I am sure many of you are disappointed, but it is the sensible thing to do. Many volunteers have already cancelled their own activities and establishments are requesting that we do not attend at this time.

The admin team will continue to work behind the scenes during this time and are here to support you.

Thank you.
